Wapiti Regional Library patrons have access to a province-wide collection of over 800 'dyslexia-friendly' items. This includes a variety of materials including hi-lo items (books that have an interest level suitable for older individuals, but with a lower vocabulary or ‘readability’ level), young adult, and juvenile items.
What makes these items dyslexia-friendly? Items in the collection have format differences, meant to make them easier for individuals with dyslexia to read. These include features like the use of dyslexia-friendly fonts, heavier weight paper, off-white paper, non-justified paragraphs, and less words per page.
