Wapiti Regional Library serves an area of approximately 61,242 square kilometers in North Central Saskatchewan's beautiful Lake Country. Our library system serves over 100 municipalities, including Indigenous communities, rural municipalities, villages, towns, and two cities.
Wapiti Regional Library serves 87,000+ residents through 44 branch locations. Created in 1950 as the North Central Saskatchewan Regional Library, Wapiti Regional Library was the first regional library in Saskatchewan. Wapiti acquired its current name in the mid-70s when the Saskatchewan Government, using Wapiti as a model, established a province-wide system of public libraries.
As a member of the Saskatchewan Information Library Services Consortium (SILS), Wapiti lends resources to other library systems in the province and borrows materials from those library systems in return. As a result, patrons have access to over three million items from across Saskatchewan.
Providing the highest quality, constantly evolving services is our primary goal.
