In December 2018, the Saskatchewan Government completed the first part of a consultation process about our province’s public libraries that was instigated by the government’s 58% cut (later rescinded) to library funding in the 2017 Provincial Budget.
Library organizations and stakeholders were interviewed by a government-led panel, and a report was written for Education Minister Gordon Wyant.
The government also released an online public survey to begin a process of gathering public feedback as part of the consultation process. The survey was be conducted from January 10 to January 25, 2019. The government has now published a document summarizing public responses to the online survey.
We appreciate and thank you for participation in the government’s consultation process, and for all the support you have shown for Wapiti Regional Library and Saskatchewan’s Public Libraries in general.
