Work methods governed by established procedures, but must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative, and be able to work cooperatively with other departments. Accuracy is essential. Establish own work routines and may supervise staff, referring difficult issues to their supervisor. Field work may be required. These employees report to the appropriate supervisor.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage material flow to branch libraries and maintain schedules, inventory, statistics and reports. Process automated notices, maintain patron registration and troubleshoot branch and patron issues. Process interlibrary loans. Assist with mail duties. Participate in staff development and meetings, perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Completion of grade twelve (12), valid Saskatchewan driver’s license (candidates interviewed will be asked to provide a current driving record), ability to repetitively lift 45 lbs/20.4 kg on a daily basis, proficient computer skills and keyboarding, knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to supervise and delegate tasks, ability to work cooperatively and be diplomatic and flexible, ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Library Technician Diploma or library experience is an asset. Experience with integrated library systems (i.e. Millennium or Sierra).
