Marion Sherman Bursary

In 1984, Marion Sherman retired after serving Wapiti Regional Library for 34 years. To commemorate her service, the Wapiti Regional Library board created the Marion Sherman Bursary to help promote librarianship in the province of Saskatchewan.

Arriving in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1942, Marion Sherman devoted her life to community service. Through her efforts, the first Regional Library on the Prairies was created in 1950. Originally the North Central Saskatchewan Regional Library, it later became Wapiti Regional Library. Marion Sherman served as Library Board Chair for 34 years.

The $750 Marion Sherman Bursary is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Library and Information Technology diploma program. The intent of the bursary is to assist with tuition expenses.

Wapiti Regional Library administers the Marion Sherman Bursary. The deadline for completed applications is Friday, October 5, 2018.
